OREANDA-NEWS  The number of out-of-court bankruptcies increased fivefold in the first quarter of 2024 compared to the same period of the previous year. Izvestia writes about this on Monday, April 15, with reference to the Fedresurs project.

According to him, in January — March of this year, the out-of-court bankruptcy procedure was initiated against 12.6 thousand people. At the same time, more than half of these cases were for pensioners.

The out-of-court bankruptcy mechanism was launched in September 2020. According to Fedresurs, since then and until March of this year, 42 thousand procedures have been initiated with a total debt of more than 17 billion rubles. Half of these cases have already been completed: debts of 7.3 billion rubles have been written off to citizens.

In February, the first deputy Minister of Economic Development, Ilya Torosov, said that in more than three years of operation of the mechanism of out-of-court bankruptcy procedure, Russians had massively written off debts totaling 6.3 billion rubles. During this time, a total of almost 30 thousand out-of-court bankruptcy procedures have been launched in the country. Of these, more than 18 thousand have already been completed.
