The share of free money among Russians has fallen to a minimum

OREANDA-NEWS In August, the share of free money in the budget of the Russian family fell to the lowest in recent years, 14.8 percent of income. Nezavisimaya Gazeta writes about this with reference to the data of the Romir research holding.
A year earlier, this figure was 20.4 percent, and last month it was 19.8 percent. In August 2023, the share reached 27 percent, which means it has almost doubled in two years.
Free money refers to that part of the funds that remains after the purchase of necessary food and consumer goods, payment for utilities and other mandatory services. Thus, we are talking about the share of income that can be spent on recreation, entertainment, major purchases, education, repairs, and more. The holding determines average household incomes based on its own calculations and Rosstat data, and costs based on a Single Romir Data Panel.
