OREANDA-NEWS. Up to 30 credit institutions may leave the Russian market in 2022. RBC writes about this, referring to the data of the Expert RA rating agency.

In the fourth quarter of 2021, the credit ratings of individual banks deteriorated, leading to a forecast that 8.8% of operating banks may cease operations in Russia in 2022. Termination of work includes such concepts as revocation of licenses, voluntary liquidation or affiliation with other banks.

According to Yury Belikov, Managing Director of the Validation Department of Expert RA, the list includes those credit institutions that are not large in themselves and are unprofitable without a possible prospect of increasing their client base and strengthening their positions.

The agency calculated that in the first two quarters of 2022, the health index of banks will decline and turn into growth only in the second half of the year. The dynamics will be affected by the regulatory activity of the Central Bank and the implementation of strategic plans of banks.

At the end of July, the heads of Russia's largest banks announced risks due to the Central Bank's approach to ecosystems. The new regulation of ecosystems, the format of which is being discussed by the Central Bank, may lead to more than a hundred banks violating capital adequacy standards. This may lead to the closure of bank offices in small towns.
