Russian Ivan Demidov scored a goal in his NHL debut

OREANDA-NEWS Montreal rookie Russian striker Ivan Demidov scored a goal and made an assist in the opening NHL game against Chicago.
However, the productive game of the 19-year–old debutant from Russia did not save the Canadian team from defeat: the Chicago hockey players won 4-3 (the winner was determined in a shootout.
Demidov is a graduate of the SKA system. As a member of SKA 1946, he won the Kharlamov Cup in 2024. In SKA, he scored 54 (22+32 in the goal+pass system) points in 71 games in the 2024/25 season, becoming the team's top scorer.
The St. Petersburg club announced his departure to Montreal on April 8. According to the report, Montreal will release the player to SKA if Demidov fails to gain a foothold in the NHL.
