OREANDA-NEWS  The FSB, together with the Ministry of Internal Affairs of St. Petersburg, stopped the illegal activities of a Russian citizen who assisted the special services of Ukraine.

"It has been established that the attacker entered into correspondence with a representative of the Ukrainian side via the Telegram messenger and, on his instructions, carried out intelligence activities against employees of the military-industrial complex in St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region," the FSB Public Relations Center told Interfax.

According to the intelligence service, he transmitted the information received at his place of work and the cartographic and geodetic data obtained to a representative of a foreign intelligence service.

"The suspect also received coordinates and a task from the supervisor to remove an improvised explosive device from the cache for its subsequent placement under the car of one of the employees of the regional defense industry enterprise," the report says.

During the interrogation, the 21-year-old detainee explained that "he carried out illegal actions proactively for a monetary reward received for a crypto wallet from a supervisor."

As noted in the DSP, the person involved was detained by police during an inspection at the entrance to the St. Petersburg metro. An improvised explosive device disguised as a GPS tracker was found and seized from him.

The criminal case is being investigated by the FSB in St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region. The young man is charged with Part 3 of Article 205.1 (assistance to terrorist activities) of the Criminal Code of Russia. According to the court's decision, he was taken into custody.

"Operational and investigative measures are currently being carried out aimed at identifying persons possibly involved in this sabotage and terrorist activity," the special service concluded.
