OREANDA-NEWS The German company Audi (part of the Volkswagen group) has confirmed the shutdown of its online services in Russia. TASS writes about this with reference to the comment of the company's representative.

According to him, the shutdown is due to the anti-Russian sanctions of the European Union, previously Volkswagen Group has already turned off a large number of IT systems in the country. "After the sale of the Russian business to a Russian investor in May of this year, other IT systems were separated, with the exception of five, which, in agreement with the responsible Federal Agency for Economic Affairs and Export Control and the Russian buyer, will be available for use during the transition period until the end of this year," explained the Audi representative. The restriction of access of Russian dealers to the software of BMW and Audi automakers became known on August 21. Due to the blocking of access, owners of cars of these brands cannot access the maintenance history, and new versions of the firmware of the machines have also become unavailable to them. At the same time, it is reported that some services, in search of a way out of the situation, have started creating their own programs, while others receive software through alternative channels.

Later, Anton Shaparin, vice-president of the working groups of the National Automobile Union of Russia, proposed to allow the use of unofficial software in the country to check cars of those brands that have disabled access to official programs. According to him, to solve the problem, it is worth allowing dealerships to "use unofficial, pirated software for car diagnostics."
