OREANDA-NEWS Brazil in September purchased 246 thousand tons of wheat from Russia - this was the maximum batch in the entire history of bilateral trade, it follows from RIA Novosti calculations based on data from the Brazilian state service.

Thus, the South American country in early autumn purchased 246 thousand tons of Russian wheat, increasing imports by 2.6 times per month. This was a record purchase of this type of grain from Russia for Brazil. The previous maximum was recorded in December 2022, when Brazil bought 217.4 thousand tons of wheat.

At the same time, the purchase price in September did not exceed the December maximum, amounting to $ 61 million against $ 70 million.

In September, Russia became the main supplier of wheat to Brazil, overtaking Argentina (99 thousand tons) and Uruguay (30 thousand tons). Also in early autumn, Canada (21 thousand tons), Paraguay (11 thousand tons), and Lebanon (2 tons) supplied this grain to the South American country.

At the same time, following the results of nine months, Russia became the second largest supplier of wheat to Brazil with sales of 723 thousand tons for $ 193 million, whereas a year ago it did not supply this grain to the local market at all. Argentina holds the lead (1.7 million tons), and Uruguay is in third place (723 thousand tons).
