OREANDA-NEWS The Ministry of Culture has suspended discussion of the draft law on the foundations of traditional Russian values due to a wave of criticism.

The press service of the department told about the need to develop new approaches for the preparation of the project and take into account all the arguments and comments. Earlier, the document was discussed at two venues with the participation of experts, deputies, scientists and public figures. They supported the initiative.

According to Interfax, the project "Fundamentals of state Policy for the preservation and strengthening of traditional Russian spiritual and moral values" was criticized in the professional environment. Therefore, it is necessary to find new approaches for the development of the document.

The Ministry noted that the document was developed at the D. S. Likhachev Research Institute of Cultural and Natural Heritage together with experts. At the end of December 2021, it was published on the legal information portal. From January 21 to February 4, a public discussion took place: 100,760 users voted for, 78,928 voted against, and 1,479 more left reviews.

The document was criticized in the Union of Theatrical Figures (UTF) of the Russian Federation, as well as representatives of the theatrical community — the general director of the Bolshoi Theater Vladimir Urin, the artistic director of the Theater of Nations Evgeny Mironov, the artistic director of the Moscow Art Theater.
