OREANDA-NEWS  Trade between Russia and Iran is showing positive dynamics, and the trend towards this should continue, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said.

"We expect the entry into force of the intergovernmental agreement on free trade between the EurAsEC members and the Islamic Republic of Iran in the very near future. Of course, this will boost trade throughout our entire space with our Iranian neighbors. Despite the illegal sanctions restriction, which everyone knows well, our trade is showing positive dynamics. Last year, the trade turnover increased by more than 13%, and there is every reason to believe that this trend will continue," he said after talks with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi.

He added that the parties noted the unacceptability of the application of unilateral economic sanctions and, in this regard, will continue substantive and purposeful work in order to minimize the negative effect of these illegal restrictions on the economies of Russia and Iran.
