OREANDA-NEWS  Sports commentator Dmitry Guberniev compared the standard of living in Russia and Singapore. His words are quoted by VseProSport.

"We were in Singapore for the World Aquatics Championships, and I can say that the standard of living there is higher than in Russia. We must strive for the economy of our own country to grow, we need to work and invest," Guberniev said.

The commentator also reacted to the words of Olympic silver medalist Kliment Kolesnikov, who said in a recent interview that the country's leading swimmers receive a little over 100,000 rubles a month. "He didn't complain, but gave this information as a fact? In our country as a whole, life is difficult as a fact. Our pensions in the country are not the largest, as a matter of fact," Guberniev said.

The World Aquatics Championships were held in Singapore from July 11 to August 3. The Russians competed in the tournament in a neutral status and finished fourth in the overall medal tally. Russian athletes have won 18 awards: six gold, eight silver and four bronze.

Guberniev had previously spoken about the problem with doping in Russia. The commentator urged not to be ashamed and to restore order in this area.
