OREANDA-NEWS India's purchases of Russian aluminum in October 2024 soared 30.2 times year-on-year and almost quadrupled month-on-month, their total cost exceeded 5.7 million dollars. This is reported by RIA Novosti with reference to the data of the statistical service of the Asian country.

Almost all of the indicated amount paid for imports, with the exception of 300 thousand dollars, fell on unalloyed aluminum wire with a thickness of more than seven millimeters, the material says.

Even following the results of such a successful month, Russia did not get into the top 20 importers of aluminum to India, placing itself in the 25th position in the list. China, the United States and the United Arab Emirates lead the way with 159.7, 79 and 64.2 million dollars, respectively (monthly data, with total shipments from Russia of 40 million in January — October).

At the same time, Russians supplied $366.5 million worth of aluminum to China in October, which was the highest since the middle of winter.

As Reuters learned this week, the 16th package of EU sanctions against Russia, which is scheduled to be adopted by February 24, may include a ban on aluminum imports.
