Kostin ruled out hypothermia of the Russian economy

OREANDA-NEWS There are no concerns about the possibility of hypothermia in the Russian economy, said Andrey Kostin, head of VTB, at the WEF-2026.
"In general, the economy is such a capricious thing, it always requires a lot of attention and care, but nevertheless, I think there is no fear that we will get overcooled, even though that we are entering the autumn-winter period," he said on the Vesti news channel.
"It's not so important to develop in spurts here. It is important that we stay the course and keep inflation in check, as the president also said today. Because if inflation were high, there would be no development, no investment," the banker continued.
Earlier on Thursday, the head of Sberbank, German Gref, told reporters that the situation in the Russian economy could still be called overcooled.
At the same time, the Bank of Russia sees no reason to talk about hypothermia in the country's economy, and it probably came out of overheating in the first quarter, according to a summer summary of the Central Bank's key rate discussion.
