OREANDA-NEWS Russia will search for alternative routes for the supply of its energy resources in order to minimize the consequences of US sanctions, said Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation.
The United States on Friday imposed sanctions on more than 200 companies and individuals associated with the Russian energy sector, as well as over 180 vessels. The sanctions are aimed at restricting Moscow's access to international markets and reducing revenues from oil and gas exports. The package also introduces restrictions against enterprises involved in the extraction and processing of energy resources, as well as ships involved in their transportation.
"First of all, of course, measures will now be taken and options will be sought to minimize the consequences of these sanctions. In the modern world, the situation has repeatedly demonstrated that, naturally, natural routes, energy supply routes, cannot be simply cut off. Something is being blocked in one place, alternative options are emerging in another place, so we will look for work options that will subsequently minimize the effects of sanctions," Peskov told reporters, answering a question about how the sanctions could affect Asian markets, where Russia supplies energy, and what retaliatory measures are planned..
