OREANDA-NEWS Russia believes that publicly covering any details of the Alaska summit would not be the best decision. This is how Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary of the Russian leader, spoke about the alleged compromises that Moscow has made on Ukraine, TASS reports.
"Indeed, issues related to the settlement in Ukraine were raised during the meeting. We believe that talking about some details publicly would hardly be useful for the common cause. The work should be conducted in a non—public format, as this is the only way to achieve results," the Kremlin spokesman said.
Peskov stressed that the presidents of Russia and the United States, Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump, had a "meaningful, constructive, useful and necessary" conversation. According to him, the Russian side highly appreciates the effectiveness of these negotiations.
On August 24, US Vice President Jay Dee Vance said that Russia had allegedly compromised on some aspects of the peaceful settlement in Ukraine. He noted that Moscow is aiming to end the crisis.
