OREANDA-NEWS. The first President of Ukraine Leonid Kravchuk will become the head of the Ukrainian delegation to the Trilateral Contact Group on the peaceful settlement of the armed conflict in Donbass. This was announced on July 30 by the press service of the Office of the current President Volodymyr Zelensky.

On July 28, the ex-President of Ukraine Leonid Kuchma reported at a meeting with Zelensky that he leaves the Contact Group. The next day, the head of state said at a briefing that Kuchma could be replaced by the Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine, Minister for Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories Oleksiy Reznikov, or Kravchuk. Later, the first candidate became the interim head of the Ukrainian delegation to the Contact Group.

In early July, Kravchuk expressed hope that Russia would help restore the destroyed territories of Donbass, and assured that Ukrainian authorities had never thought about leaving these territories.
