Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya, former opposition’s candidate for the presidency of Belarus, said in an interview with Le Monde newspaper that the time for negotiations with Russia has not come yet. “The time has not come yet, but we are open for dialogue with everyone,” the politician said. “It would be great if Russia supported our struggle for our rights, but I will ask it, like everyone I meet, to respect our sovereignty,” she added. So Tsikhanouskaya answered the question of whether she is ready for a dialogue with Moscow after meeting with US Under Secretary of State, Stephen Biegun and speaking in front of the members of the European Parliament.

Earlier, Pavel Latushko, a member of the presidium of the Coordination Council of the Belarusian opposition, claimed that the Council is ready for contacts with Russia “at any level.”

Dmitry Peskov, press secretary of the Russian President, said that Belarus must decide for itself whether it needs help from other countries in resolving the current political situation. According to him, Moscow is ready to help, but will not interfere.
