OREANDA-NEWS. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine convicts the holding of elections to the State Duma of the Russian Federation in Crimea and and the invitation to participate in the Russian elections for residents of the territory of Donbass, which is not subordinate to Kiev. Therefore, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is asking the world community to impose additional sanctions against Russia. The Foreign Ministry informed about it in his statement on Friday.

"We call on foreign states and international organizations to resolutely condemn the illegal actions of the Russian Federation, to clearly declare the non-recognition of the election results in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine and the illegitimacy of the State Duma of the Russian Federation formed in this way, to increase political and diplomatic pressure on the Russian Federation, in particular by expanding sanctions against it." - said the Foreign Ministry.

Earlier, the chairman of the Central Election Commission of the Russian Federation, Ella Pamfilova, said in an interview with RIA Novosti that there would be no plots on the territory of the self-proclaimed DPR and LPR, but residents who received Russian citizenship in a simplified manner will be able to come to the Rostov region, where they received passports, and vote. They can also vote remotely if they have a verified account on the public services portal.

On April 24, 2019, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree on the simplified receipt of Russian passports by residents of the self-proclaimed republics of Donbass. He said that the issue is purely humanitarian in nature, Russia has no desire to create problems for Kiev, but the situation with civil rights in Donbass is overstepping borders. Less than a week later, Russian Passport Issuance Centers were opened in the Rostov Region. Residents of the LPR and DPR received the first passports of the Russian Federation under a simplified scheme on June 14, 2019.
