OREANDA-NEWS. In the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Lugansk people’s republics (DPR and LPR), riots may begin due to the fact that people live there worse than in Ukraine. This was announced on September 14 by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in an interview with the Austrian newspaper Wiener Zeitung.

“Many of these people [Residents of the DPR and LPR. – Ed.] are infected with coronavirus, we are dealing with a humanitarian disaster there. And people who live in the occupied part of Donbass can see how Ukrainians live on the other side of the front, namely, that they live better,” the politician said.

The President of Ukraine also said that miners in Donbass do not receive normal wages and are forced to pay high prices for water and electricity. According to Zelensky, if the patience of these people is exhausted, riots may arise.

At the same time, Zelensky stressed that Kiev is not interested in such an outcome, and also noted that he still intends to fulfil his election promise and end the conflict in Donbass.
