"During the exchange of views on the situation in Ukraine, Vladimir Putin confirmed his interest in achieving peace through political and diplomatic means, and stressed that for a final, just and comprehensive resolution of the crisis, it is necessary to eliminate its root causes," the Kremlin said.

It is noted that the Russian leader also expressed gratitude to the pontiff for his willingness to assist in resolving the Ukrainian crisis.

In addition, the Russian president drew particular attention to the fact that the Kiev regime is betting on the escalation of the conflict, conducting sabotage against civilian infrastructure facilities on Russian territory.
