OREANDA-NEWS The US Treasury Department has added the Russian A7 payment system, the Grinex crypto exchange and several other companies to the sanctions list. The relevant decision is published on the agency's website.

It says that the US Treasury is re-sanctioning the Garantex cryptocurrency exchange, which is believed in the United States to have directly assisted known cybercriminals and authors of ransomware programs by processing transactions worth more than $100 million since 2019. In addition, Garantex's successor, Grinex, has been added to the sanctions list. Measures have also been taken against three executives of Garantex and six related companies in Russia and Kyrgyzstan, whom the ministry accuses of supporting the exchange's involvement in malicious cyber activities.

Prior to this, US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent did not rule out the possibility of imposing new sanctions on Russia. According to him, the head of the White House, Donald Trump, still wants the conflict in Ukraine to end and therefore leaves all options open.
