OREANDA-NEWS Russia and India are discussing at a high level the possibility of holding a summit of the leaders of the two countries Vladimir Putin and Narendra Modi this year, Indian Ambassador to Moscow Pavan Kapoor told RIA Novosti.

"It's being discussed. There are discussions at a high level," the ambassador said, answering the relevant question, without giving details.

At the end of last year, Bloomberg reported that Modi allegedly refused to meet with Putin. Presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov then told reporters, commenting on the publication, that "no meetings were planned until the end (2022 - Ed.) of the year and no one refused anything because there were no planned contacts." He added that for the next year, 2023, the schedule will be agreed.

The Russian Foreign Ministry, commenting on the publication, explained these media reports as a misunderstanding, noting that Modi's arrival was not planned.
