OREANDA-NEWS  The tension on the Polish-Belarusian border is artificially inflated and is of a political nature. Poland is not ready to invade its neighbor's territory, so an open military confrontation is unlikely in the near future. About this said State Duma deputy Dmitry Novikov.

"We have a situation where the tension at the border is artificially inflated. I do not think that the Polish side is ready to embark on an adventure with military intervention in the internal affairs of Belarus today, but the game is escalating and has a political character," the deputy believes.

He admitted that the ruling circles of Poland are trying to create the appearance of protecting Polish national interests in this way. In addition, he recalled that the country has certain plans for the western regions of Ukraine.

"Perhaps the build-up of political confrontation with Belarus is designed to distract attention from the events that the Polish authorities are preparing for on the border with Ukraine. In any case, Warsaw believes that the demonstration of anti—Belarusian sentiments is no less important than the demonstration of an anti-Russian course," Novikov said.

The MP also did not rule out that current events can be considered as psychological, ideological preparation for a possible confrontation with Belarus in the future, but an attempt to invade is now extremely unlikely due to the country's unpreparedness for conflict.

Earlier, Polish army General Marek Sokolowski said that Polish helicopter pilots would not hesitate to use weapons on the border with Belarus. He also added that combat helicopters were transferred to the border with Belarus.
