Russia needs its own developments, not just import substitution, Putin said

OREANDA-NEWS Russia will not achieve technological leadership by engaging only in import substitution and reverse engineering, it needs its own developments, Russian President Vladimir Putin said.
On Tuesday, the head of state received the head of VEB in the Kremlin.Russian Federation by Igor Shuvalov.
"At the first stage, after the introduction of a large number of sanctions, we, of course, were engaged, and rightly so, in import substitution. But by exclusively engaging in import substitution and reverse engineering, so-called, we will not achieve technological leadership. We need our own developments and production facilities on our own platforms," Putin said at the meeting.
