OREANDA-NEWS  It is planned to increase the sown area in Russia by at least 5 million hectares by 2030, the Ministry of Agriculture reported.

The head of the Ministry of Agriculture, Oksana Lut, held a meeting with the heads of the agricultural management bodies of the regions on the involvement of unused agricultural land in circulation.

"Currently, 51 regions have already formed a plan to increase acreage by 5 million hectares by 2030. The largest amount of land is planned to be involved in the Tver, Chelyabinsk and Saratov regions, the Perm Territory and the Udmurt Republic," the report says.

The ministry added that municipal land control remains one of the main tools for working with private agricultural land. In the first half of the year, the regions surveyed twice as much land as in the same period last year.

"Such work is already yielding results: previously unused plots are recognized as suitable for agricultural production, are included in road maps and, after carrying out the necessary measures, are returned to circulation," the ministry noted.

They clarified that the largest volumes of surveys were conducted by the Moscow, Kaluga and Novosibirsk regions - 110 thousand, 62 thousand and 50 thousand hectares, respectively.
