OREANDA-NEWS The average age of a mortgage borrower in the Russian Federation has decreased from 40 to 38 years over the past three years. This was reported by Gazeta with reference to a study by analysts of the federal real estate company Etagi.Ru.

According to experts, the share of young home buyers is increasing in the country: in 2023, Russians aged 20-29 accounted for 14 percent of mortgage transactions, while this year the figure reached 22 percent. The trend is most noticeable in the secondary housing market. Experts have found that the share of 20-29-year-old borrowers who have mortgaged apartments in 2024 was 13 percent, in 2025 - 17 percent, and in 2026 - 21 percent. Meanwhile, citizens aged 30-39 years remain the largest age group of buyers, although their share is decreasing over time — from 35 percent in 2024 to 32 percent this year.
