OREANDA-NEWS The next spacewalk of Russian cosmonauts Sergei Prokofiev and Dmitry Petelin will take place on May 12, Roscosmos reported.

"From May 6 to May 9, the flight program of the Russian segment of the station was completed... preparation for the spacewalk (VCD-58) according to the Russian program, which is scheduled for May 12," the message says.

It is noted that the astronauts checked the exit control panels and spacesuit docking systems in the Poisk and Zvezda modules, and also studied the on-board documentation and preliminary exit cyclogram, transition routes and exit work areas, prepared the equipment and tools to be taken out.

Prokopyev and Petelin reactivated the Orlan-ISS spacesuits, checked the charge of their batteries and prepared replaceable spacesuit elements. They also examined them, made sure that the hydraulic systems of the spacesuits and the systems of their docking to the board were working. In addition, the astronauts assembled a general packing with tools for the exit.

As specified in Roscosmos, the astronauts discussed with ground specialists the results of their last exit, which took place on the night of May 4.

Prokopyev and Petelin arrived at the ISS on September 21, 2022 on the Soyuz MS-22 spacecraft together with American astronaut Frank Rubio. During the expedition, they have already gone into outer space three times: November 17, April 19 and May 3-4.
