OREANDA-NEWS Honored USSR figure Skating coach Tatiana Tarasova spoke about the work of athletes in the State Duma. Her words are quoted by Sport24.
Tarasova wondered what athletes can do in the State Duma. "It's better to work according to your profile. There's no better job than teaching children, and then adults, what you've been doing all your life. It's strange that athletes don't have such a desire," she said.
The coach noted that she does not see any advantages in the fact that athletes go into politics. According to her, she never wanted to become a politician.
In 2023, Tarasova evaluated the work of athletes in the State Duma. She confessed that she did not feel it.
The State Duma of the eighth convocation includes a number of titled Russian athletes. Among them are three—time Olympic champion in figure skating Irina Rodnina, two-time Olympic champion and seven-time world champion in ice hockey Vyacheslav Fetisov, Olympic champion in speed skating Svetlana Zhurova, world champion in biathlon Anton Shipulin.
