OREANDA-NEWS Shareholders of Tesla Corporation have sued the company and its CEO Elon Musk over robotaxis. This is reported by Gizmodo.
Several shareholders filed a lawsuit in the U.S. federal court on Monday. In it, they accused Tesla and personally Elon Musk of making false statements about the safety of unmanned vehicles. The IT giant's shareholders said that Musk's actions damage the company's reputation and lead to a decrease in its value in the market.
Representatives of the shareholders mentioned incidents when Tesla self-driving taxis created dangerous situations on public roads. They also noted that the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) launched an investigation into robotaxi traffic violations at the end of June.
Gizmodo journalists also accused Elon Musk of deceiving shareholders. They recalled that in October 2024, Tesla introduced Cybercab self-driving cars that do not have steering wheels and pedals. In their opinion, instead of Cybercab, the company uses ordinary Tesla cars as taxis, puts drivers behind the wheel and calls its service unmanned. In conclusion, they noted that Tesla does not communicate with journalists in principle.
At the end of July, Tesla launched a regular taxi in San Francisco, California, instead of an unmanned one due to lack of a permit. In June, the Tesla robotaxi appeared in Texas.
