OREANDA-NEWS A basic consensus has been reached at the preliminary talks between the Thai and Cambodian delegations on the implementation and control of the ceasefire regime on the border between the countries, General Mohd Nizam Jaffar, Commander of the Malaysian armed forces, said in an exclusive commentary to the Malaysian state news agency Bernama on Wednesday.

Negotiations on the implementation and monitoring of the ceasefire regime after the armed border conflict between Thailand and Cambodia within the framework of an extraordinary meeting of the bilateral Thai-Cambodian Committee on Border Issues are taking place these days in Malaysia. A final meeting is scheduled for Thursday under the chairmanship of the Defense Ministers of Thailand and Cambodia, which will be held in the presence of observers from Malaysia, as chairman of the Association of States South East Asia (ASEAN), which includes both countries, as well as observers from the United States and China.
