OREANDA-NEWS American documentary filmmaker Reginald Tremblay, who moved to Crimea, announced plans to send a petition to Russian President Vladimir Putin for citizenship. This is reported by RIA Novosti.

"I've been wanting to get Russian citizenship for almost six years now, ever since I moved to Crimea, as I'm going to stay here to live forever," he said.

According to Tremblay, he first came to Russia in 2016 to find out the truth about the return of Crimea to the country. He added that he realized what an incredible country and culture Russia is. "Everything I've learned has made me want to live here," he said.

Earlier, Russian-American actor Steven Seagal spoke about how the attitude towards him changed after accepting Russian citizenship. "Someone hates me for my Russian citizenship, someone, on the contrary, thinks it's wonderful, supports me," the artist said.
