OREANDA-NEWS  The Council of the European Union announced that the 11th package of anti-Russian sanctions agreed on the eve had entered into force. It includes a ban on the transportation of Russian oil through the northern branch of the Druzhba oil pipeline, a restriction on the entry of Russian trailers into the EU, as well as a number of measures aimed at circumventing previously imposed restrictions. In addition, 87 more enterprises of the military-industrial complex were added to the sanctions list.

"Our sanctions are already causing heavy damage to the Russian economy and the Kremlin's ability to finance its aggression. Today's package increases our pressure on Russia. By fighting to circumvent sanctions, we are further depriving Russia of the resources it so desperately needs to wage an illegal war against Ukraine," said Josep Borrel, head of European diplomacy.

The Estonian Foreign Ministry was the first to announce the entry into force of the 11th sanctions package against Russia. The head of the Estonian Foreign Ministry, Margus Tsakhkna, clarified that the allied states of Ukraine have already started discussing new sanctions."Estonia and the European Union continue to work to ensure that sanctions are as strong and effective as possible and affect those sectors from which Russia receives the most support in financing its aggression against Ukraine," he said.

As the head of the Estonian Foreign Ministry clarified, the European Union decided to tighten restrictions on the export of cars to Russia precisely at the suggestion of Estonia. The export of pneumatic and gas weapons to Russia was also banned. Vessels that violate the rules of the oil price ceiling or disable the automatic location identification system are prohibited from entering EU ports. At the suggestion of Estonia, the ban on entering the ports of the Gulf of Finland also applies to anchorages outside the jurisdiction of ports.
