OREANDA-NEWS  Finnish President Alexander Stubb discussed with Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky further actions following a meeting with the head of the White House, Donald Trump, in Washington. The politician announced this on his social network account.

"Close contact with President Zelensky continues. Today we discussed our next steps after the meeting in Washington. The plan to provide effective support to Ukraine's security is being implemented (...). We must continue to put pressure on Russia to come to the negotiating table," the Finnish leader said.

Stubb added that Finland and its partners "will continue to work on resolving the Ukrainian crisis."

On August 25, Stubb said that Russia "will not tell Europe and the United States" what to do with security guarantees for Ukraine.

At the same time, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stressed that the Russian side rejects security guarantees for Kiev in the logic of confrontation with Moscow. According to him, at the meeting in Washington, European countries tried to promote their agenda aimed at uniting Ukraine with the Western world in order to continue the policy of containment and confrontation with Russia.
