OREANDA-NEWS  Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov discussed with his Indian counterpart Subramaniam Jaishankar practical steps to develop cooperation, the Russian Foreign Ministry said.

"Due attention was paid to practical steps to further develop trade and economic cooperation, including in the energy and financial spheres, military-technical and logistical cooperation," they said.

The ministers also discussed topical issues on the bilateral and international agenda, with a focus on the organization of the summit between Vladimir Putin and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. As the Indian Foreign Minister said at the meeting, several bilateral agreements are being prepared for it.

The parties expressed their commitment to the formation of a just multipolar world order and ensuring global security, and their mutual commitment to further promoting a particularly privileged strategic partnership.

Putin plans to visit India next month. The summit is held annually, this time it will be held on the 25th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration on Strategic Partnership. During the meeting, Lavrov confirmed that the meeting would take place in three weeks in New Delhi. The Indian media indicated December 5-6 as the date.

Jaishankar arrived in Moscow to attend a meeting of the SCO Council of Heads of Government. He was going to discuss the conflicts in Ukraine, the Middle East and Afghanistan with Lavrov.

The Russian minister, in turn, called relations with India the most important priority in foreign policy. Now, according to him, the countries are particularly focused on creating favorable conditions for the work of economic operators in each other's markets.

He noted joint achievements and good prospects for cooperation in the fields of energy, industry, agriculture, military and military-technical cooperation, as well as scientific, technical and cultural ties. He named the North—South international transport corridor and the Northern Sea Route as one of the most promising projects.
