The FSB and the Investigative Committee reported on the detention and arrest in Kaliningrad of a young man suspected of preparing a terrorist attack in one of the Orthodox churches in the region.
"The Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation has stopped an attempted terrorist act in the Kaliningrad Region, which was planned with the coordination of the special services of Ukraine by a member of a terrorist organization banned in Russia against one of the Orthodox churches in the region," the FSB Central Control Center said.
According to the intelligence service, the detainee, a Russian citizen born in 2008, entered into correspondence with a terrorist organization recruiter via the Internet and informed him of his readiness to commit a terrorist attack.
"Acting on his instructions, the minor picked up and conducted a reconnaissance of the target of the attack, as well as purchased the necessary components and manufactured improvised incendiary devices," the report said.
The representative of the TFR Svetlana Petrenko said that the detainee was charged under Part 3 of Article 30, part 1 of Article 205 of the Criminal Code (attempted terrorist act). He's been arrested.
"Material evidence was found and seized from the defendant, including a phone used for correspondence with a curator from Ukraine," Petrenko said.
