OREANDA-NEWS  The Russian diesel-electric submarine Mozhaysk of Project 636 (Varshavyanka series), which is the carrier of the Kalibr family cruise missiles, was launched in St. Petersburg. 

"Project 636 submarines, to which Mozhaysk belongs, are formidable weapons of the Russian Navy, which has a huge modernization potential," Navy Commander—in-Chief Nikolai Evmenov said during the launching ceremony.

According to him, the Varshavyanka series submarines turned out to be very successful. "Therefore, the boats of this project will be built, they have a great future," RIA Novosti reports the statement of the commander—in-chief.

It is noted that the submarine will be moored to the mooring wall of the Admiralty Shipyards plant, where its mooring tests will begin. "After another couple of months of testing at the wall of the shipyards, Mozhaysk will go to the landfills of the Baltic Sea to present to the customer all its highest characteristics," said the company's CEO Andrey Veselov.
