OREANDA-NEWS. The Spokesman of the Operation Inherent Resolve, Colonel Myles B. Caggins III, reports that the US military came under fire at a checkpoint at the entrance to the city of Qamishli in Syrian Kurdistan.

“On Feb. 12, Coalition forces, conducting a patrol near Qamishli… encountered a checkpoint occupied by pro-Syrian regime forces… The patrol came under small arms fire from unknown individuals. In self-defense, Coalition troops returned fire,” Caggins wrote on his Twitter page.

Kurdish portal Rojava Information Center writes that the incident occurred after local residents refused to let an American convoy pass. According to it, as a result of firing by the US troops, several people were wounded, one died.

After that, an American airplane struck at the positions of the Syrian forces. This is reported by Rojava Information Center and the Turkish agency Anadolu.
