OREANDA-NEWS Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan hopes that Russia will lift trade restrictions with his country in the future.

"We hope that we will be able to comprehensively discuss and, so to speak, improve our relations with our Russian colleagues. As for the goods, I hope that the restrictions will be lifted in the future," he said in parliament.

The Rosselkhoznadzor previously banned the supply of flowers, fresh tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, green crops and strawberries, stone fruits, fresh grapes, pome crops, eggplants, potatoes and dried fruits, live fish and fish products, dairy products from Armenia.

Yerevan's active rapprochement with the European Union and the discussion of Armenia's possible future membership in the EU provoked a negative reaction from Moscow. As stated by Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Overchuk, no one is trying to exclude Armenia from the EAEU, but Yerevan must decide on a choice: the Eurasian Economic Union or the EU, and the sooner the better.

In September, the Council of the European Union approved a temporary preferential trade regime for Armenia, which provides for the abolition of import duties on a significant part of goods imported from the republic for a period of two years.
