OREANDA-NEWS  Hackers have learned how to hack into Windows computers through a critical vulnerability in its browser. This is stated on the Microsoft Edge browser project website.

Microsoft representatives said that a vulnerability had been found in the Edge browser. It is only available in Internet Explorer mode. However, hackers are aware of this and force computer users to access malicious sites by switching the browser to this mode.

Microsoft deprecated Internet Explorer and replaced it with Edge back in 2022, but the legendary browser remains available as an add-on for Edge. The article says that a group of hackers from China and North Korea have started creating websites that can only be opened through Internet Explorer. Accordingly, to display them, you need to enable IE mode in the Edge browser.

"The attack allows you to bypass Edge's security features, help the hacker install malicious software, spy on the victim's network and steal data," Microsoft engineers noted. The company said that it had complicated the process of enabling Internet Explorer mode so that computer owners would start "using it more consciously."

On October 14, Microsoft officially discontinued support for Windows 10 worldwide. The outdated Windows 10 was released in 2015.
