OREANDA-NEWS   Russia is one of the key wheat suppliers to the Nigerian market. Since the beginning of the current season (from July 1, 2026), more than 360 thousand tons of grain have been shipped to the Nigerian market, the Grain Association of Russia reports following negotiations between the executive director of the association, Ksenia Bolomatova, and the Minister of Agriculture and Food Security of Nigeria, Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi.

The key topic was ensuring uninterrupted supplies of Russian grain to the Nigerian market.

"In the context of the reorientation of export flows, shipments to Nigerian ports are actively carried out from terminals on the Baltic Sea," the report says.

Nigeria, with a population of over 242 million, is a large and rapidly growing market in West Africa. Grain imports are projected to reach 9 million tons this season, including 5.6 million tons of wheat.
