OREANDA-NEWS Russian users are actively downloading VPN services, with the help of which you can bypass local restrictions on access to certain sites, as well as maintain confidentiality on the Network.

According to the evaluation of the platform data.ai (until recently called App Annie), on Monday, February 28, there were 16 VPN services in the top 100 most downloaded apps for iOS, with five of them in the top ten, including first and second places. There were eight VPN services in a similar top for Android, three of them in the top ten.

The growth of interest in VPN services on both platforms has been observed since Thursday, February 24. On this day, early in the morning, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a "special military operation" in Ukraine.

In addition to VPN services, downloads of various games have traditionally grown on both platforms, but the Meduza online media application has also soared in the rating (recognized as a foreign media agent). On the day of the start of the special operation in Ukraine, it topped the rating for iOS, although it was not previously included in it.

Among other applications that have abnormally increased downloads on iOS are the Flightradar24 aircraft tracking service, the Signal messenger with an increased level of security, the Bridgefy messenger (allows you to exchange messages in the absence of Internet access), a mapping service Maps.me with offline maps.
