OREANDA-NEWS Archaeologists have found a medieval tower in Gorny Dzheyrakh district of Ingushetia. This is reported by TASS.

Alikhan Dozariev, an ethnographer and employee of the E. I. Krupnov Archaeological Center, said that he had explored a site on the territory of the Geriti complex that he had not previously questioned. After analyzing the angle of the structure, the specialist came to the conclusion that he had discovered the remains of a combat tower. According to him, this is indicated by the stone bag, the thickness and slope of the walls, as well as the intersected laying of stones in the corners for 80-90 centimeters.

"In order to definitively confirm our assumption, it is necessary to excavate one of the corners, which will allow us to determine the exact dimensions of the object. The confirmation of this discovery will be a real sensation, since the early scientific papers do not mention the combat tower in Gerity," said Dosariev.

At the same time, his colleague, Ramzan Sultygov, general director of the Heritage School of bricklayers and restorers, added that the presence of the tower indicates that not only artisans but also warriors lived in the mountains. "Until now, it was known that skilled craftsmen lived in Gerity, whose leather goods — belts, horse harnesses, shoes, elements of military equipment — were highly valued far beyond the borders of the region. The discovery of the battle tower adds a new dimension to the understanding of the life of this settlement," he explained.

In June, it was reported that treasure vaults had been found in the Nizhny Pui tower complex in Ingushetia.
