OREANDA-NEWS. Russian singer Sergei Lazarev explained why Manizha will not be able to win at Eurovision. He shared his opinion in an interview on the YouTube channel Fametime TV.

Sergey Lazarev himself represented Russia at Eurovision in 2016 and 2019, taking third place both times. The singer noted the talent and originality of Manizhi.

"She has cool songs, she has her own audience ... How much it is for Eurovision is a question," he said.

According to the musician, the European audience may not understand the meaning of the song, since it is in Russian. “For this reason, the number of points will be obviously less,” the artist explained.

In addition, the singer complained about "intolerance towards his own member" in Russia.

He appreciated the feminist message in Manizhi's composition, but added that she could be in a losing position against the background of Destiny, a member from Malta, who sings "about a strong woman and all that." Destiny, who won the Junior Eurovision Song Contest a few years ago, is one of the bookmakers' favorites this year.

The International Eurovision Song Contest, canceled in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic, will take place on May 18-22 at the Ahoy Arena in Rotterdam. Manizha, a Russian singer originally from Tajikistan, will perform on it with the song "Russian Woman".
