OREANDA-NEWS  The International Russian Language Week Forum, organized by Rossotrudnichestvo and Moscow State Linguistic University (MGLU), was held in Cairo, the university's press service told RIA Novosti.

Russian Russian as a foreign language teachers, heads of faculties, departments and departments of Russian language and literature took part in the event 87 specialists from 16 African countries. Participants from Algeria, Egypt, Senegal, Zambia, Congo and other countries exchanged experiences, discussed problematic aspects of teaching Russian, new methods, as well as issues of regional and international cooperation.

Special attention was paid to teaching professionally oriented translation and working with ethnocultural vocabulary. During the creative workshops, the teachers got acquainted with the techniques of creative writing and learned how to convey "untranslatable" Russian concepts while preserving their meaning and cultural context. The participants also discussed trends in the development of Russian studies in Africa and established contacts for future joint projects.
