OREANDA-NEWS  Portugal, Italy and Belgium topped the ranking of the most drinkable EU countries - in these countries, according to the results of last year, the largest percentage of people over the age of 16 who drink alcohol daily was recorded, according to data from Eurostat, which was analyzed by RIA Novosti.

According to the statistics agency, in Portugal, 16% of the country's residents over the age of 16 have such a daily habit, in Italy the percentage is already noticeably lower - 7.9%, and in Belgium and Denmark - 7.5% each. The Netherlands (6.3%) and France (5.9%) were also among the five most prominent alcohol consumers on a daily basis.

In 2025, 4.8% of people aged 16 and over in the European Union consumed alcohol daily. The proportion of people who consumed alcohol weekly was 19.2%, and monthly - 21.8%.

Thus, the majority of people either consumed alcohol less than once a month (20.7%), or never consumed alcohol or did not consume it in 2025 (33.5%).

In the EU, daily, weekly and monthly alcohol consumption was more common among men than among women: in 2025, 56.5% of men consumed alcohol at least once a month, compared with 35.9% of women.

The proportion of the EU population who drinks alcohol daily increases with age: from 0.8% among people aged 16-24 to 8.9% among people aged 65 and older.
