OREANDA-NEWSMercedes-Benz, in cooperation with the sports division AMG, is preparing a new all-electric sports car for serial production. Ola Kallenius, the head of the Daimler concern, spoke about this.

The top manager clarified that the constantly tightening environmental standards in Europe, the United States and China are stimulating the electrification of the model range of almost all automakers. And the range of the Mercedes-AMG sports division is no exception.

Already in the AMG lineup there are models that use technologies from hybrid power plants of Formula 1 cars. However, according to the head of the Daimler concern, this is not enough. Kallenius did not name the exact timing of the new all-electric sports car, but said that such a move on the part of the company is simply inevitable.

Recall that earlier Mercedes-AMG has already produced an all-electric sports car. The experimental SLS AMG Coupe Electric Drive, which was released at the end of 2012, was equipped with four electric units with a total capacity of 751 horsepower.

Currently, there are two electric models in the Mercedes lineup - a crossover and an EQC and an EQV minivan. However, both cars are not yet presented on the Russian market.
