OREANDA-NEWS The Institute of Strength Physics and Materials Science of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences (Tomsk) and the Novosibirsk Luch plant have developed Russia's first rotary controlled inclined and horizontal drilling system for oil production, and Arab countries are already interested in it, said Svetlana Buyakova, deputy director of the scientific institute.
She explained that the issue of developing such a system has become very acute after the departure of giants from the Russian market, such as oilfield services companies Schlumberger, Halliburton and others. According to her, in this regard, access to modern new technologies for the extraction of hydrocarbons from low-saturated reservoirs was closed, when inclined and horizontal drilling is required.
"The installation of the rotary controlled system has been tested at the Surgutneftegaz test site to date. I think that in the near future it will bring a good significant income. Moreover, Arab countries have become interested in the installation, again, in line with today's events, in order to have this development," Buyakova said at the Golden Valley forum in Novosibirsk's Akademgorodok.
According to her, in Russia, until recently, there was a 100% import dependence in the segment of equipment for opening complex formations and drilling wells with a large deviation from the vertical. At the same time, the production of Russian systems has been launched at the Luch enterprise in Novosibirsk.
