OREANDA-NEWS  Sony has started massively blocking PlayStation console users from Russia. Izvestia drew attention to this.

Experts told the publication about the wave of mass blockages in the PlayStation Network system. It is clarified that those who have registered accounts from several countries on the console are more likely to be banned — up to 100 per month on one console. However, ordinary gamers also complain about blocking.

According to Yaroslav Meshalkin, a representative of the Heads'made digital communications agency, there is no direct evidence of Sony's targeted targeting of users from the Russian Federation. However, he noted that Russians cannot purchase PlayStation games legally, so they use workarounds en masse. Sony can record such actions. "We can talk not about political blocking, but about the sanctions-commercial domino effect," the expert emphasized. Meshalkin stated that the chance of unblocking is unlikely.

IT expert Sergey Pomortsev clarified that most accounts were permanently blocked from the console. That is, new profiles cannot be registered on specific consoles: "In other words, consoles have become useless "bricks"."

"People massively fake accounts in order to gain benefits, such as access to games or obtaining regional prices," Daniil Lopatnikov, deputy head of the Digital Sports Development Service at the Federal Sports Reserve Training Center, described the market situation after Sony left Russia. At the same time, from the point of view of Russian legislation, gamers do not violate anything.

In mid-May, Sony announced that it might raise prices for PlayStation due to high U.S. tariffs. At the same time, the company may not increase the cost of consoles, but partially transfer PlayStation production to the United States.
