OREANDA-NEWS  The holding company "Roselektronika" (part of Rostec) and the BSTU "Voenmeh" named after D.F.Ustinov will create a module to search for injured or lost people using mobile phone signals outside the coverage area of the cellular network. This is stated in the message of the state corporation.

The complex of onboard equipment will be installed on the UAV and used to support search and rescue operations. The device will be able to locate the cell phone signal and determine its location in all weather conditions and in difficult terrain. It is expected that the first samples will be manufactured before the end of 2024.

"When conducting rescue operations, time is a key success factor. Today's search tools allow you to find a person by a cellular signal only if there are base stations in the district, while rescuers receive approximate coordinates of the area, and not the exact location of the device. The appearance of such equipment will seriously shorten the search period for the missing, ensure their timely evacuation and assistance," the report says.
