OREANDA-NEWS The development of a tumor in humans can be triggered by hepatitis B and C viruses, herpes of the fourth and eighth types, as well as a number of other oncogenic viruses. Dmitry Mironenko, Candidate of Medical Sciences, oncologist and mammologist, told RIA Novosti about this.
"There are several theories of carcinogenesis and the causes of cancer. One of them is viral-genetic. It is based on the incorporation of DNA or RNA viruses into the genome of a human cell as a factor that initiates the development of cancer," the doctor explained.
According to Mironenko, oncogenic viruses also include human papillomavirus, human T-lymphotropic virus and Merkel cell polyomavirus.
Earlier, the Russian Ministry of Health announced the first use of a personalized cancer drug on a patient with skin melanoma. According to the agency, we are talking about the antitumor mRNA vaccine "Neonkovak". At the same time, it is emphasized that, despite the ongoing treatment, there remains a high risk of further cancer progression.
