OREANDA-NEWS. April 10, 2007. The first contest within a joint program of EuroChem Mineral and Chemical Company and US Agency for International Development (USAID) is over. The contest started on December 14-15 in Nevinnomyssk (Stavropol Territory) and was held with participation of Sustainable Development Foundation, reported the press-centre of  EuroChem Mineral and Chemical Company.
The Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation was signed between USAID and EuroChem on May 23 2006. According to the Memorandum, the Company shall invest $1,000,000 in Nevinnomyssk social and economic programs, while US Agency, together with its extensive experience in launching such projects and use of advanced technology for their implementation, shall contribute $300,000.
Among the vast amount of projects aimed at the improvement of Nevinnomyssk social environment, Sustainable Development Foundation has selected and recommended for funding the most significant ones, such as Child's Dreams by Grammar School No. 10, Key to Health by the Town Hospital for Children, Winter Garden by Young Natural Scientists' Station, Road to Health for schoolchildren, school employees and residents of Golovnoye district by Agricultural School No. 11, as well as resource-saving projects by the town medical facility.

According to Rafael Makushkin, acting Deputy Head of Nevinnomyssk Municipality and Chairman of the Working Group of the Program 'Environment and Health of Nevinnomyssk Residents', "the town has been offered a real opportunity to make creative plans come true". As he said, the experience of participating in the program of this kind will give a new impetus to discover citizens' creative initiatives and will be a good example of corporate social responsibility policy which has been carried out by EuroChem in Nevinnomyssk for several years. This priority area is a well-defined strategy implemented by the Company since its establishment. Every year EuroChem signs agreements on social and economic partnership with municipalities at all regions where its enterprises are based and makes considerable social contribution to solve crucial regional problems, promote sports and physical fitness, and develop science and education.
